Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation, or JPIC, is a movement to combat climate change and ameliorate the hardships of the people, in all Loreto institutions across the world. It involves stake- holders in finding ways of caring for our Mother Earth in tangible ways. The JPIC is also a platform whereby the Laudato Si Action Plan, initiated by Pope Francis, is integrated creatively into the curriculum. Meaningful programmes and specific goals, empower our staff and students to respond to the cry of the poor, adopt a more sustainable life-style and eventually bring about a systemic change.

Regular meetings, organised at the institutional and national levels, and commemorating of UN Days highlighting social and environmental concerns, empower our youth to explore issues related to justice and peace. Our students are encouraged to reflect on what Pope Francis has said, “The present ecological crisis is one small sign of the ethical, cultural and spiritual crisis of modernity.” Humanity “cannot presume to heal our relationship with nature and the environment without healing all fundamental human relationships” including our relationships with others and God. The Actionable Goals drawn up by the JPIC at its annual NGM are based on contemplation of the earth’s problems and designed so as to result in an ecological spirituality that will heal the world and restore ‘wholeness’ to all of Creation.
